Chief Executive Officer (Co-Founder)

Eric is the Executive Director at New Harbor, and is responsible for overseeing the operations of New Harbor and ensuring its activities align with New Harbor’s mission and values. Eric received his bachelor’s degree from Union College and completed a dual-degree , JD and an MBA in Healthcare Management, program at Albany Law School and Clarkson University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Eric began his legal career at a large law firm based in Upstate New York, where he focused on healthcare law and advising various behavioral and health and human services treatment providers. Eric also serves on the Board of Directors for Friends of Recovery New York, and has had his story featured in Men’s Health Magazine.

Justin Cambria LICSW

Chief Clinical & Community Officer (Co-Founder)

Justin serves as both the Clinical Director, and Director of Clinical Outreach at New Harbor Behavioral Healthcare. He began his work in behavioral health through his personal recovery journey, which began in 2009. He is a passionate believer in holistic healing and many paths to recovery. Justin has worked for a decade as a therapist, family coach, case manager, and clinical outreach director. He has developed extensive experience in care planning and advising for individuals and family systems facing all sorts of challenges in mental health and substance use, and maintains relationships with organizations and practitioners throughout the country.  Justin earned a dual Masters in Clinical Social Work and Masters in Business Administration from Boston College, and a Bachelors from Middlebury College. He is also an RYT-200 certified yoga instructor.

Destinee Lucier LCSW

Destinee Lucier LCSW

Executive Director

Destinee is the program director at New Harbor, overseeing and supervising day-to-day clinical activities in the facility. She is a patient centered clinician that has a passion for mental health treatment. She has experience with working with diverse populations and cultures over the years. Her experience includes Intensive-In-Home Family therapy, Adolescent Detox, and as Program Director for a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program. She received her bachelors in Criminal Justice and Pre Law at Anna Maria College and her Masters in Clinical Social Work at Simmons University. Destinee enjoys creating and implementing narrative based group therapy as well as assisting the patient’s in finding their own path to a healthy and happy life. She believes recovery is a multifaceted process that encompasses the mind, body, and soul.

Omar Shah MD

Omar Shah MD

Medical Director

Dr. Shah is a board certified psychiatrist treating patients of all ages, with a particular interest in serving adolescents. Dr. Shah is full-time faculty at the Harvard Medical School and as an Attending Physician at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is a Ruth Fox Scholar of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and a recipient of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) John Renner Award. He served as the Vice Chair of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Leadership Fellowship and was recently awarded the APA Resident Recognition Award.

Isabella Denio-Miller

Isabella Denio-Miller

Director of Admissions

Isabella is the Director of Admissions at New Harbor, managing all aspects of the journey families take to enter our programs. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science from Fitchburg State University. Since graduating, she has worked extensively in community-based mental health settings, supporting individuals across the lifespan from children and adolescents to adults and older adults. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Merrimack College, she also serves as a graduate-level counseling intern, serving clients in individual and group therapy. Driven by a genuine passion for helping others, Isabella believes in the power of empathy, connection, and access to care as key components to healing and growth. 

Nicole Willey MA

Nicole Willey MA

Lead Therapist

Nicole is a graduate of the Boston College Masters in Mental Health Counseling program who has a strong interest in working with teens struggling with depression, anxiety, and related issues. Nicole also has experience working with those impacted by traumatic experiences, OCD, and self-harm. Previously, Nicole interned in a college counseling center, and she has previous professional experience working with children on the autism spectrum. She is deeply passionate about supporting young people to find true healing.

Michelle Hay

Michelle Hay

Clinical Masters Intern

Michelle graduated Magna Cum Laude with her BA from UMass Boston in 2013 and will receive her Master of Social Work degree from Salem State University in 2026. She first became interested in behavioral and mental health therapies through her own pursuit of recovery more than six years ago. She takes seriously the importance of assessing individuals thoroughly and across time, tailoring evidence-supported interventions and treatments conducive to short- and long-term success. In addition to her clinical and academic training, she holds certifications as a yoga instructor, including as an RYT-200, in aerial yoga, and in Yoga Nidra (iRest®), and she has completed CEUs focused on trauma-informed approaches. Michelle also volunteers for organizations dedicated to mentoring and supporting individuals and family members impacted by loved ones’ addictions and other mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and post-traumatic stress.

Primary Therapist

Isabelle graduated with her Master’s in Social Work from Boston College with a strong interest in supporting individuals struggling with substance use and emotional dysregulation. She is an LCSW in Massachusetts. She has experience interning with Veterans with PTSD and substance use disorders and adolescents in high school settings. Isabelle also has a background working with children on the autism spectrum, behavioral health patients in the emergency room, and the elderly in the nursing home, which has deepened her understanding of diverse emotional and behavioral needs. Her clinical approach is rooted in empathy, connection, and helping individuals build practical skills for lasting change. Isabelle is passionate about walking alongside clients in their healing journeys with curiosity, compassion, and respect.

Sara Appell

Clinical Outreach Manager

Sara serves as the Clinical Outreach Manager at New Harbor Behavioral Health, where she works closely with families, schools, and community partners to ensure adolescents receive timely, compassionate access to intensive clinical services. She is deeply passionate about supporting young people facing mental health and substance use challenges, informed in part by her own lived experience and long-term recovery. Sara is committed to reducing barriers to care and helping adolescents feel seen, supported, and understood during some of the most pivotal moments of their lives. Through relationship-building, education, and advocacy, she helps connect the community with the clinical resources they need while promoting a collaborative and empowering approach to adolescent behavioral health.

Laura Henry Kuper MA

Laura Henry Kuper MA

Lead Group Facilitator

Laura is an individual, family, and group therapist who is happy to be part of the New Harbor team. She received her Master’s Degree from Cambridge College School of Counseling and Psychology, with a clinical focus in Trauma Studies and Addictions counseling, and also holds a certificate in Family Systems Therapy. Since graduating, Laura has worked with adults, children, and families in the Boston area in a variety of clinical settings, including schools, homes, and community-based health centers, and has developed a special interest in working with teens struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and trauma. As a dedicated person-centered therapist, Laura pulls from a variety of modalities using a tailored approach to support clients in finding meaning, connection, and healing on their own terms.

Case Manager

Ian is a Behavioral Health Technician and Case Manager at New Harbor. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Chapman University in 2022. He is a certified embodied breathwork facilitator with a passion for all things mindfulness. Ian is currently a masters student at the Boston College School of Social Work.
Nina Carbone

Nina Carbone

Operations Manager

Nina is a Behavioral Health Technician at New Harbor. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Behavioral Neuroscience and Queer Studies from Rhode Island College in January 2025. She is a former theatre artist and is passionate about all things related to the human experience. Nina brings a unique blend of scientific curiosity and creative insight to her work. Her background in performance art continues to inform her empathetic, client-centered approach, and she is committed to fostering safe, affirming spaces for healing and growth.

Abby Dufresne MA

Abby Dufresne MA

Primary Therapist

Abby Dufresne is a graduate of Lesley University’s program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Drama Therapy, with specialized training in the drama therapy technique of Developmental Transformations and other creative relational approaches to care. She is passionate about using expressive therapies to foster connection, transformation, and self-discovery among adolescents. Abby’s clinical interests focus on integrating the expressive arts into therapeutic work to support emotional growth and resilience. In addition to her clinical role, she will be leading New Harbor’s alumni programming, where she aims to build a supportive and enduring community for program graduates.

Leah LeShane

Leah LeShane

Clinical Supervisor - Experiential Therapy Program

Leah LeShane, LMHC, ATR-BC (she/her) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Board Certified Art Therapist. She believes that connection is inherently healing and feels privileged to accompany individuals on their therapeutic journeys.

Leah brings clinical and leadership experience, having served as a program director at a partial hospital program, clinical director at a residential facility, supervisor for licensure-track clinicians, and private practice therapist. She has also taught at Lesley University’s Graduate School of Counseling.

Her clinical focus includes working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, infertility and pregnancy loss, postpartum concerns, anger, LGBTQIA2+ identities, and neurodivergence—particularly within high-risk and underserved populations.

As a supervisor, Leah prioritizes creating a supportive environment where clinicians feel heard, recognized, and valued. She is grateful for the opportunity to be part of a team committed to compassionate, inclusive, and impactful care.

Kayla Parsons

Clinical PsyD. Intern

Kayla Parsons is a Clinical Psychology PsyD student at William James College, working as a Clinical Intern at New Harbor. She has a strong interest in the intersection of psychology and the legal system, particularly in conducting forensic assessments and evaluations. Her background includes extensive experience working with child victims of abuse and neglect as well as adults with severe mental illness. Kayla is passionate about using psychological science to inform legal decision-making and promote justice for vulnerable individuals. Throughout her training, she has continued to develop her passion for greater understanding of a person and their experiences and her appreciation of an integrated comprehensive approach to mental health treatment. While working at New Harbor, she is extremely eager to apply evidence-based interventions to her empathetic client-centered approach in order to provide children with the most appropriate and encouraging support in their treatment progress.

Devin began her career 10 years ago in case management, where she developed a strong foundation in direct client support and advocacy. She brings a deep commitment to supporting individuals and communities affected by mental health  and substance use challenges. Over the years, her path evolved into administration and operations, allowing her to shape and improve the systems that serve our most vulnerable populations.

Devin’s approach is rooted in compassion, integrity, and a solution-oriented mindset and believing in meeting people where they are and building sustainable, person-centered systems that empower both clients and providers.

Paco was a beautiful boy who spent a good portion of his life at New Harbor showing love and kindness to clients and staff. He sadly passed in October 2025. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched at New Harbor and beyond.

Co-Lead of Boundless Joy

Jack is a fine hound who spends most days at New Harbor directly supporting the needs of clients, employees and everyone else who may visit. Although he has been known to steal a stray sandwich from a table now and again, he makes up for it with oodles of cuddles bestowed upon anyone who wishes. He is as emotionally attuned to our clients needs as anyone here.
