Adolescent Day Treatment – What Insurance Calls PHP

Full Day Treatment for Teens with Mental Health Challenges

Is your child or a loved one between ages 13-18 suffering from mental health or substance use? The National Alliance on Mental Illness reported that 57% of Massachusetts teens suffering from depression did not receive care in 2020. Leaving mental health and substance use untreated puts teens at risk of worsening symptoms or dramatic changes to their lifestyle. We support teens & their families facing a variety of mental health challenges.

What Is Day Treatment?

Day treatment is used to treat mental health and substance use including but not limited to:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • ADHD
  • Suicidal ideation
  • Self harm
  • Substance use

Teens suffering from mental health or substance use are treated using a combination of therapeutic modalities. As opposed to residential programs, day treatment occurs during the day, allowing teens to return home each evening. This type of program does not offer residential or overnight stays for teens. Teens who require 24/7 monitoring may be referred to a residential program.

How Our Day Treatment Program Works

Our day treatment program is located at our facility in Dedham, Massachusetts and is available to teens age 13-18. We offer day treatment Monday through Friday for those suffering from mental health or substance use.

Our program consists of the following:

  • Daily group therapy: Group sessions combine therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, psychoeducation, process groups, as well as expressive arts therapies
  • Psychiatric evaluation & services: this evaluation determines a teen’s need for medication management services – all teens enrolling in day treatment receive an initial psychiatric evaluation and weekly psych services.
  • Individual therapy: weekly sessions support a teen’s progress towards their treatment goals
  • Case management: our team’s case management services support academic and vocational needs and coordinate care with outside providers
  • Parent coaching: Parents, guardians, and caregivers are offered a weekly support group to understand how to help their teen outside of the program as well as talk with others who are experiencing the same
